I’d seen lots of movies. I talked to all my friends who had gone through the experience.

The State of Montana has decided that I am non-essential.
That doesn’t sound like a good thing.
Did I do something wrong?
Did I offend someone?
Does it mean I have no worth?


Once upon a time,
long, long ago,
there was this thing called
THE DRAFT.
But there were other options as well and people had to make decisions.
What to do?


There was this war going on and the country realized they needed soldiers … lots and lots of soldiers.
The politicians looked around and there we were — the Baby Boomers.
We were the perfect solution to their problem.
